The SALT program at Camp Widjiitiwin is designed to teach leadership through the Bible, community, personal growth and practical experience.
We’ve got 4 special weeks of creativity and adventure planned or you at a cost savings of $100/week and we don't break for weekends. That's 28 days, and approximately 336 hours of programmed time spent in God's word, discipleship and leadership training.
To provide excellence in teaching, education, worship and fellowship; to train the next generation of Christian leaders; to provide for experience in leading others within a safe environment (mental, physical, spiritual and social – Luke 2:52)
New for 2019:
4 weeks allows us to pack in more content and include a more diverse selection of skills and experiences. SALTers will have access to elective focus programming, will engage in a worship project of their own design and have a differentiated learning outcome.
Campers will have time slots in their schedule to choose an activity to focus on. Focus activities allow campers to go deeper in progression and also explore new options.
Apart from music, the Bible gives a description of worship that includes all aspects of life. SALTers will be guided through a creative process to do something with the intentionality of worship. This could be writing, drawing, performing, making, or almost anything. SALTers will also present their project to the other SALTers to benefit from the diversity of the group.
Differentiated Learning Outcomes:
SALTers all learn something different while at camp. Knowing this, we embark on a 3 step process of learning to lead oneself, how to build a team and how a team influences others. The experiences along the way allow campers to have a different outcome, while being supported in their growth.
Matthew 5:13-16 You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything except to be thrown out and trampled by men. You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead, they put it on a stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven.
Psalm 78:70-72 He chose David his servant and took him from the sheep pens; from tending the sheep he brought him to be the shepherd of his people Jacob, of Israel his inheritance. And David shepherded them with integrity of heart; with skillful hands, he led them
