We are not called to regret our sins. Rather we are called to repent from our sins, to have true sorrow before God.

Regret is a human emotion usually based on getting caught doing something wrong. Guilt also plays in here

Repent is an act of? Before God

Too often I feel regret or guilt for my sin

What if I don’t feel guilty, is my heart calloused?

What if I don’t want to repent, what if I like my sin?

@DailyKeller: “Sin is not primarily just actions. It involves heart motives, inclinations, identities, and our orientation as well.”

@CSLewisDaily: Repentance means unlearning all the self-conceit & self-will that we have been training ourselves into… It means killing part of yourself.

David desperately desired to clean up the mess of his sinful life, but he could not do it alone. He cried out to God and begged, “Wash away all my iniquity and cleanse me from my sin.” (Psalm 51:2)

Don’t try to wash away your sin through good deeds, monetary gifts, or acts of service.  Don’t try to cover your misdeeds with smiles, superficial friendships or busyness.

The foundation of Christianity is repentance. Strictly speaking, a person cannot repent when he chooses— repentance is a gift of God. The old Puritans used to pray for “the gift of tears.” If you ever cease to understand the value of repentance, you allow yourself to remain in sin. Examine yourself to see if you have forgotten how to be truly repentant. Oswald Chambers

Ask God to cleanse you and accept the purity that he alone provides.
